- Description
This course equips learners with a grounded, practical understanding of how the world is shifting from fossil fuels to clean energy. Across six self-contained modules, you will explore the full spectrum of renewable technologies, from the physics behind solar panels and wind turbines to the infrastructure needed to store and distribute power at scale.
What you will learn:
- The core drivers of the energy transition, including climate urgency, cost economics (LCOE), and energy security, and why renewable capacity additions now account for 90% of global growth
- How solar energy works, from the photovoltaic effect to utility-scale systems, with real-world adoption trends across China, Germany, Australia, and Brazil
- The mechanics of hydropower, from run-of-river systems to tidal and wave technologies, and why hydro remains the largest source of renewable electricity globally
- Wind energy from rotor to grid, including onshore vs. offshore farm design, capacity factors, and an industry supporting roughly 1.4 million workers worldwide
- The emerging hydrogen economy, covering green, blue, gray, and turquoise production pathways, fuel cells, and the infrastructure gaps still to be bridged
- How energy storage, smart grids, and modernized distribution networks tie it all together, with an 80 million km grid buildout required by 2040 and $21T in projected investment
The course “Energy Transition” is part of the broader “Get Into Energy Transition” learning pathway co-developed by Schneider Electric and INCO Academy, available on the Skill Our Future Learning Platform.
